Alarm Monitoring Systems
Ship alarm monitoring systems enhance the safety and efficiency of the vessel by detecting abnormal situations, allowing the crew to take action quickly. The system monitors various onboard functions such as engines, generators and other services.
Our company's founding stone was laid in 1977 with the establishment of the Engineering Firm Böning. In 1996, it became the Engineering Firm Böning GmbH, which was renamed to Böning Automationstechnologie GmbH & Co. KG in 2003. From the very beginning, the development and manufacture of electronic devices and systems for ship automation was a major focal point of all company activities.
Originally rooted in commercial shipping, we have also been successfully active in the area of super and mega yachts since 1996. In the meantime, our devices and systems, the majority of which we have developed and manufactured ourselves by the way, are found on more than 13,000 commercial ships and yachts.
By now, a staff of approximately 100, among them about 20 engineers in the area of development alone, are employed here in Ganderkesee in an area of nearly 4000 m² for office, production, and storage space.
One of our responses to the economic crisis beginning in 2008 is our continued drive toward globalization. In this context, we point to branch offices in Brazil, Italy, and Croatia, as well as representatives and distribution partners. This allows us to better meet the demands for competent service and short routes, especially by shipping companies and yacht owners.
One of our recipes for success is based on the close cooperation with our customers, resulting in creation of practice-oriented and reliable devices and systems. From this positive synergy grows a steady expansion of our competence. Here, we point out especially the integrated alarm systems which affect practically all areas of ships.
Safety relevant devices and systems are generally type approved according to DNV GL SE and other classification societies.
Our company is DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Servowatch, first incorporated in 1975, is the latest addition to the global engineering group, Larsen & Toubro. The technical capabilities of the company flourished in 1999 with the award of the contract to supply the integrated management systems to the latest generation RNLI lifeboat, the Tamar class. The world's first truly multifunction system is now accepted on board sophisticated commercial and naval vessels.
Servowatch returned to the naval environment in 2001 by securing the contract to provide the IPMS for the New Zealand Project Protector seven vessel programme. This success has since spread to navies worldwide, including Thailand, India, Brazil and the United States.
In 2006 Servowatch successful delivered a technology transfer programme to the Indian Navy, and now Larsen & Toubro are producing fully indigenous IPMS platforms.
Servowatch remains synonymous with the Superyacht industry and has secured preferred supplier status with shipyards such as Trinity in the United States, supported by our US office.
In 2009 Servowatch was contracted by US ONR to provide the complete integrated ship control, communications and navigation bridge package for the E-Craft project. On time and in budget delivery with strong project management ensured a successful introduction to the US Navy.
2010 sees Servowatch introducing a maritime surveillance and C2 with high performance camera platforms to the security industry. Securing a major contract providing a situation awareness capability for a high profile programme will open new markets for the business.
Acquired by Larsen & Toubro in April 2012, the future for Servowatch with strong financial backing and investment into product looks extremely positive. Market share of automation, integrated bridge and maritime surveillance programmes is expected to grow rapidly. Recognition of Servowatch capability and technology is spreading fast and the company is well placed to re-inforce it's position.
As from 24th June 2013, Servowatch are now located at Heybridge Essex, within an impressive facility that has more room for expansion, greatly improved travel links and the ability to implement modern working practices throughout the organisation
